LIVESAY
Formed in 1991 by guitarist and namesake Gregg Livesay, LIVESAY is a powerful five-piece melodic and progressive metal band hailing from the Northeast United States. Emerging at a time when the music industry was leaning into the grunge movement, LIVESAY stayed true to a guitar-heavy, neoclassical sound rich with intricate arrangements, skyrocketing vocal harmonies, and technical progression.
Drawing deep inspiration from icons like Yngwie Malmsteen, classic Deep Purple, Europe, and early Dream Theater, the band delivers a "sonic symphony" that bridges the gap between classic heavy rock and dark, mystical progressive metal.
Discography & Musical Evolution:
Throughout their decade-spanning career, LIVESAY has steadily built a reputable catalog of self-sustained studio releases:
Livesay (Self-Titled, 1996) Darkest Hour (2000) Awaken the Giant (2010) Frozen Hell (2016) Chronicles (Career-spanning retrospective, 2019) Scars (EP, 2023) — Selected as #8 in the Top Ten Releases of 2023 by Sleaze Roxx.
Risen (2026) — Their latest and highly anticipated studio release.
Veterans of the Big Stage:
LIVESAY has earned its reputation as a ferocious, tight live act, headlining their own tours and opening for a "who's who" of legendary national rock and metal acts. They have shared the stage with:
Ronnie James Dio, Dokken, Y&T, Lynch Mob, Stryper, Fates Warning, Sebastian Bach, Quiet Riot, Michael Schenker.
In addition to high-profile opening slots, the band has brought their cinematic energy to major festivals across the country, including multiple appearances at:
Illinois' Rock N' Skull Festival, The New York Metal Fest, and Colorado's Wolf Fest.
The Current Era (2026):
Marking a massive new chapter for the band, LIVESAY has joined forces with legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronny Munroe (celebrated for his powerhouse work fronting Metal Church and his time as a principal vocalist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra). Munroe’s sweeping vocal range and massive power perfectly complement the intricate musical foundations laid down by the band.
